Buckthorn
and many other invasive woody species have been infiltrating
our native ecosystems for decades. These exotic
species have been introduced into Minnesota by humans and
continually encouraged by our disruption of natural
ecosystem's cycles and development. However, through specialized
Land
Management techniques and methods, these
species
can be eventually eliminated, allowing our native plant
species to flourish as they once did. MNL has a land
management crew well versed in dealing with such invasive
species as Common Buckthorn, Glossy Buckthorn, Mulberry,
Honeysuckle, Boxelder, Elm, Hybrid Poplar, Sumac and Prickly
Ash throughout the dormant and growing seasons.
Though not all are introduced, exotic species, these and
many other often undesirable trees and shrubs can easily
become an unwelcome nuisance on your native ecosystem.

Equipment:
A variety of tools can be used throughout the year for successful
invasive woody-species elimination.

Reproductive
suppression:
Woody species are best dealt with by first eliminating the
plant’s ability to produce seed. |

|
Elimination:
As most invasive specie will re-sprout vigorously after
cutting, the appropriate herbicide properly applied (variant on the
type of suppression desired as well as the season), will prove fatal
to the root system of the targeted plant.
