Ensure the Best Possible Results In Your Restoration Project!

The use of native plants in landscape designs has become more and more popular due to their diversity and beauty. MNL works directly with Landscape Architects and Designers to help produce high quality restoration projects.

We will gladly help with project specifications to help produce the highest quality plans.

  • Use our seed mixes outlined in Native plant community types, or call us to custom design mixes for your needs.

  • Consult with us on integrating other aspects of a landscape design that will be compatible with quality installation and establishment of naturalized components.

  • Let us help you sell the concept of native plants to potential or existing customers.

Noteworthy Tips:

Native plant communities are usually complex ecosystems that require very specific installation and management needs. These types of projects need to be installed by someone that actually cares about their outcome. Always require in specifications that an ecological restoration company is used.

Prairie seedings can not take place during the months of August and September, so plan your site prep and construction procedures accordingly.

Use caution when accepting seed mixes. Most expensive flower seed is not tested and is sold on a “bulk” weight basis. Don’t assume you are getting quality seed from anyone. A quick visual inspection of the seed being used on a project will go a long way to ensure quality seed is being used. Good seed looks like seed, not a handful of ground-up leaves.

Most seeding equipment needs space to operate effectively. To guarantee quality installation leave at least 12 feet between trees, shrubs, fences or other aspects of the design whenever possible.

Willow cuttings used for live staking bio-engineering projects need to be harvested in the dormant season, and are not readily available in the market place throughout the installation season. Plan accordingly.

The use of proper mulch material is critical. Non-certified mulches often contain massive quantities of noxious weeds and can have devastating effects on even the best restoration efforts.
